Polybase

Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-009109

A polymer in which a substantial fraction of the constitutional repeating units contains basic groups or groups that can become basic. These groups are capable of accepting protons, causing the polymer to acquire positive charges in acidic solutions. An example of a polybase is poly(vinylpyridine), which contains basic pyridine groups.
