Primary lymphoid follicle

Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-009433

A dense, spherical aggregation of B lymphocytes found in lymphoid organs such as lymph nodes and the spleen, prior to antigen exposure. These follicles lack a germinal center and consist mainly of naive B cells. Upon antigenic stimulation, a primary follicle can develop into a secondary lymphoid follicle with a germinal center.
