Puffing inhibitor
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-009663
A chemical additive incorporated into carbon precursors, such as petroleum coke, to mitigate or prevent the undesirable expansion and distortion known as puffing during high-temperature processing. These inhibitors typically work by reacting with or stabilizing the gas-forming impurities, thereby reducing gas evolution. Common inhibitors include iron oxide and other metal compounds.
