Qa antigen
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-009713
A non-classical MHC class I molecule of the mouse, encoded in the Qa region of the H-2 complex, that is expressed on some cell types and is less polymorphic than the classical class I proteins. Instead of presenting a broad range of peptides to T cells, Qa molecules present a restricted set and are recognized by particular receptors on immune cells. Qa-1, which binds the Qdm peptide derived from classical class I leader sequences and engages CD94/NKG2A, is the best-characterized member.
