Quasi-equilibrium
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-009772
A state in a chemical system where certain processes are in equilibrium, while others are not, or where a system is very close to equilibrium but still undergoing slow net change. This concept is often applied in transition state theory, where the activated complex is assumed to be in quasi-equilibrium with the reactants. It implies a separation of timescales for different processes.
