Residual dipolar coupling
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-010221
The small, non-zero dipolar coupling observed in nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) spectroscopy when molecules are partially aligned in an anisotropic environment, such as a liquid crystalline phase. This coupling provides valuable information about molecular conformation and orientation that is averaged to zero in isotropic solutions. It is measured in hertz (Hz).
