Resonance-enhanced multiphoton ionization
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-010259
A technique for ionizing atoms or molecules by simultaneously absorbing multiple photons, where at least one intermediate step involves a real electronic excited state. The resonant intermediate state significantly increases the probability of absorbing subsequent photons, leading to efficient ionization. This method offers high sensitivity and selectivity in mass spectrometry.
