Rhombencephalon

The posterior region of the embryonic vertebrate brain, also known as the hindbrain. It is one of the three primary brain vesicles that form during early neural development. The rhombencephalon further differentiates to form the metencephalon, which develops into the pons and cerebellum, and the myelencephalon, which becomes the medulla oblongata.
