Rotating-frame NOE spectroscopy

Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-010417

A nuclear magnetic resonance technique that measures the nuclear Overhauser effect (NOE) in a coordinate system that rotates with the radiofrequency field. This method, also known as ROESY, is used to determine the proximity of protons in molecules by observing cross-relaxation between spins that are locked by a strong radiofrequency field. Unlike standard NOE spectroscopy, ROESY can distinguish between direct and spin diffusion mediated effects, making it applicable to a wider range of molecular sizes.
