Saccadic eye movement
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-010468
Rapid, ballistic jumps of the eyes that move the fovea from one fixation point to another, as in reading or scanning a scene. They can be made voluntarily or triggered reflexively, last roughly 20 to 200 milliseconds, and reach peak speeds of several hundred degrees per second. Vision is largely suppressed while a saccade is under way.
