Scanning transmission electron microscopy

Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-010553

An electron microscopy technique where a finely focused electron beam is scanned across a thin sample. Electrons that pass through the sample are detected, providing information about its internal structure and composition. It combines the imaging capabilities of transmission electron microscopy with the scanning capabilities of scanning electron microscopy.
