Selenenic acids

Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-010692

Organic compounds containing the -SeOH functional group, where selenium is directly bonded to an organic residue and to a hydroxyl group. These compounds are intermediates in the oxidation of selenols and are generally unstable, readily disproportionating or undergoing further oxidation. They are analogous to sulfenic acids in sulfur chemistry.
