Self-initiated polymerisation
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-010708
A polymerization process that proceeds without the addition of an external initiator, where the monomer itself generates the initiating species under specific conditions. This can occur through thermal decomposition, radical formation via monomer-monomer reactions, or other spontaneous processes. An example is the thermal polymerization of styrene, which can generate radicals through a Diels-Alder type reaction.
