Sheath liquid
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-010809
A conductive liquid that flows concentrically around the sample stream in a sheath flow electrospray ionization interface. It provides the electrical contact necessary for electrospray formation and can also modify the chemical environment of the analyte. This liquid is often a mixture of organic solvent and water with an added electrolyte.
