Smoothing
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-010961
A data processing technique applied to analytical signals to reduce random noise and highlight underlying trends or features. It involves averaging adjacent data points using a mathematical algorithm, such as a moving average or Savitzky-Golay filter. The degree of smoothing is controlled by parameters like the window size or polynomial order.
