Solvatomers

Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-011020

Isomers of a solute that differ only in the arrangement of the solvent molecules around it, that is, in their solvation environment. Because solvent shells reorganize quickly, solvatomers interconvert rapidly and cannot be separated. The name is not used for species that differ in the kind of solvent molecules, since those are not isomers.
