spin-Peierls transition
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-011222
A phase transition occurring in one-dimensional antiferromagnetic spin chains, where the system undergoes a dimerization of the lattice. This dimerization leads to the formation of spin singlets and a gap in the magnetic excitation spectrum. The transition is driven by the coupling between the spin system and the lattice phonons.
