Steric-approach control
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-011397
A model used to predict the stereochemical outcome of a reaction, particularly additions to carbonyl compounds, based on the relative accessibility of the two faces of a planar or nearly planar reactant. The attacking reagent approaches the less hindered face of the molecule. This concept is often applied to reactions involving chiral substrates.
