Stray radiation error

Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-011466

An error in spectrophotometric measurements caused by the presence of stray light reaching the detector. This error leads to an apparent decrease in absorbance, particularly at high concentrations of the analyte, as the detector registers light that has not passed through the sample at the selected wavelength. It can be minimized by using high-quality optical components and appropriate filters.
