Sulfenyl groups

Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-011551

Monovalent functional groups with the general structure -SR, where R represents an organic substituent. These groups are characterized by a sulfur atom directly bonded to an organic moiety and capable of forming another bond. Sulfenyl groups are found in compounds such as sulfenyl halides and sulfenamides, and they participate in reactions involving sulfur-carbon bond formation.
