Superfetation

The rare occurrence of a second conception during an ongoing pregnancy, resulting in the presence of two fetuses of different gestational ages in the uterus. This phenomenon requires ovulation and subsequent fertilization to occur while another fetus is already developing. It is distinct from superfecundation, which involves fertilization of multiple ova from the same cycle.
