Tan δ

Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-011807

The tangent of the phase angle delta, representing the ratio of the loss modulus to the storage modulus in dynamic mechanical analysis. This dimensionless quantity indicates the damping or energy dissipation characteristics of a material under oscillatory deformation. A higher tan δ value suggests a more viscous or less elastic material.
