Tandem conjugate

Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-011808

A molecule composed of two different fluorochromes covalently linked together, where the emission of one fluorochrome excites the second, resulting in a longer wavelength emission. These conjugates are widely used in flow cytometry and fluorescence microscopy to achieve multiple color detection from a single excitation source. Phycoerythrin-Cy5 is a common example of a tandem conjugate.
