Thermoluminescence
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-011971
The emission of light by a substance when it is heated, after it has previously absorbed energy from radiation. The absorbed energy is stored in traps within the material, and heating provides the energy to release this trapped energy as photons. This phenomenon is used in dosimetry and dating archaeological artifacts.
