Thioaldehyde S-oxides
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-012007
Organic compounds containing a carbon-sulfur double bond where the sulfur atom is also bonded to an oxygen atom, with the general formula R-CH=S=O. These are the sulfur-oxygen analogues of aldehydes, where the carbonyl oxygen is replaced by a sulfinyl group. They are often reactive intermediates due to the polarity of the C=S=O bond.
