Topochemical polymerisation

Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-012112

A polymerization reaction that occurs in the solid state, where the monomer molecules are arranged in a crystal lattice and react without losing their crystalline order. The spatial arrangement of the monomers in the crystal dictates the structure of the resulting polymer. This type of polymerization is characterized by a high degree of stereoregularity in the polymer product.
