Topotactic transition
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-012118
A solid-state phase transition where the crystallographic orientation of the product phase bears a definite relationship to the orientation of the parent phase. This implies that the transformation occurs with minimal atomic movement and preserves some structural features. Such transitions are common in inorganic materials, including oxides and sulfides.
