Toxemia

A condition characterized by the presence of toxins in the bloodstream, which are produced by bacteria or other microorganisms. These toxins can cause systemic illness and organ dysfunction. Preeclampsia, a pregnancy complication, is sometimes referred to as toxemia of pregnancy due to its systemic effects.
