Tub conformation
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-012337
A non-planar form of an eight-membered ring, seen in cyclooctatetraene, that resembles a shallow tub with D2d symmetry. Two opposite ring bonds and the atoms at their ends define a plane, and the remaining four atoms are raised above that plane on one side. It is the eight-membered analogue of the boat form of cyclohexane.
