Two-compartment model
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-012372
A pharmacokinetic model that describes the distribution and elimination of a substance within a biological system by dividing the body into two theoretical compartments: a central compartment and a peripheral compartment. The central compartment typically represents highly perfused organs like blood and liver, while the peripheral compartment includes less perfused tissues. This model assumes rapid equilibrium within each compartment and first-order transfer between them.
