A chronic wasting disease primarily affecting deer and other ruminants, characterized by progressive weight loss, skin lesions, and liver damage. It is caused by the ingestion of chlorinated naphthalenes, which are environmental contaminants. This condition is also known as hyperkeratosis due to the prominent skin thickening.
