Fruit of the poisonous tree

Evidence obtained illegally, either directly or indirectly, as a result of an initial unconstitutional act. This doctrine dictates that such evidence is generally inadmissible in court. The exclusionary rule prevents the use of both the illegally obtained evidence and any subsequent evidence derived from it.
