Mapp v. Ohio (1961)

A landmark United States Supreme Court case that established the exclusionary rule, making evidence obtained in violation of the Fourth Amendment inadmissible in state criminal proceedings. The Court ruled that illegally seized evidence cannot be used against a defendant in a state court. This decision extended the rule, previously applicable only to federal courts, to all states.
