Moiety

An undivided one-half interest in a piece of property, real or personal. The term is frequently used in property law and estate planning to describe a situation where two or more people own property as tenants in common, each holding a distinct, fractional share. Unlike joint tenancy with right of survivorship, a moiety can be sold, gifted, or devised by will to a person's heirs.
