Attractor
Term · Meteorology and atmospheric science · MLC-T-MET-003700
A set of states in a dynamical system towards which the system evolves over time, regardless of the initial conditions within a certain basin of attraction. In atmospheric science, attractors are conceptual tools used to understand the long-term behavior and stability of atmospheric models, particularly in the context of chaotic systems. The Lorenz attractor is a classic example illustrating chaotic behavior in simplified atmospheric convection.
