Coefficient of compressibility
Term · Meteorology and atmospheric science · MLC-T-MET-004475
A measure of a substance's relative volume change in response to a pressure change. It quantifies how much a fluid or solid decreases in volume when subjected to external pressure. For gases, this coefficient is significantly higher than for liquids or solids, reflecting their greater susceptibility to compression.
