Discriminant analysis

Term · Meteorology and atmospheric science · MLC-T-MET-005052

A statistical technique used to classify observations into predefined groups based on a set of predictor variables. It constructs linear combinations of variables that best separate the groups. In meteorology, it can be applied to forecast the occurrence of specific weather events, such as severe thunderstorms, based on atmospheric parameters.
