Electrode effect
Term · Meteorology and atmospheric science · MLC-T-MET-005316
A phenomenon observed in atmospheric electricity where the electric field near the Earth's surface is modified by the presence of the ground, which acts as a conductor. This effect causes a reduction in the concentration of positive ions near the surface, leading to a net negative space charge in the lowest few meters of the atmosphere. It influences the fair-weather electric field profile.
