Free space
Term · Meteorology and atmospheric science · MLC-T-MET-005757
A theoretical concept referring to a vacuum devoid of matter and electromagnetic fields, where electromagnetic waves propagate without attenuation or reflection. In atmospheric science, it is often used as a reference for understanding how radio waves or light would travel in the absence of atmospheric effects. The speed of light in free space is approximately 299,792,458 meters per second.
