Interfacial tension
Term · Meteorology and atmospheric science · MLC-T-MET-006586
The force per unit length existing at the boundary between two immiscible fluids, such as air and water, or between a liquid and a solid. This tension arises from the imbalance of intermolecular forces at the interface. In atmospheric science, it influences the formation and stability of cloud droplets and ice crystals.
