Ionization potential
Term · Meteorology and atmospheric science · MLC-T-MET-006648
The minimum energy required to remove an electron from an atom or molecule in its gaseous state, forming a positive ion. This property is a measure of how tightly an electron is bound to an atom or molecule. In atmospheric chemistry, ionization potential influences the reactivity and stability of atmospheric species when exposed to high-energy radiation.
