Thermoscope
Term · Meteorology and atmospheric science · MLC-T-MET-009619
An early instrument used to indicate changes in temperature, but without providing a quantitative measurement on a standardized scale. It typically consisted of a bulb of air connected to a tube immersed in water, where changes in air volume due to temperature caused the water level to rise or fall. Unlike a thermometer, it lacks a calibrated scale for precise readings.
