Three-axis stabilized

Term · Meteorology and atmospheric science · MLC-T-MET-009634

Describing a satellite or spacecraft that maintains its orientation in space by actively controlling its attitude along three orthogonal axes (roll, pitch, and yaw). This stabilization is achieved using reaction wheels, thrusters, or gyroscopes, allowing for precise pointing of instruments and antennas. Many meteorological satellites, such as those in geostationary orbit, are three-axis stabilized.
