Aggradation

Term · Oil and gas · MLC-T-OAG-000076

The process of building up land surface elevation through the deposition of sediment. This occurs when the rate of sediment supply exceeds the rate of sediment removal or subsidence. In sedimentary basins, aggradation leads to the thickening of stratigraphic sequences, which can include potential reservoir and source rocks.
