ASP flooding

Term · Oil and gas · MLC-T-OAG-000194

A chemical enhanced oil recovery method involving the sequential or simultaneous injection of an alkali, a surfactant, and a polymer. The alkali reacts with crude oil to create in-situ soap, the surfactant lowers interfacial tension between oil and water, and the polymer increases the viscosity of the injection water for mobility control. This process, also known as alkaline-surfactant-polymer flooding, is a complex EOR technique compared to single-component polymer or surfactant floods.
