Polymer flooding
Term · Oil and gas · MLC-T-OAG-002854
An enhanced oil recovery method that injects water thickened with a polymer into a reservoir to improve sweep efficiency. The increased viscosity of the injected fluid reduces its mobility, allowing it to push oil more effectively through heterogeneous formations. This technique typically recovers an additional 5-20% of the original oil in place after waterflooding.
