Compressor

Term · Oil and gas · MLC-T-OAG-000791

A machine that raises the pressure of a gas by forcing it into a smaller volume. Compressors are classified as either positive displacement (reciprocating, rotary screw) or dynamic (centrifugal, axial) and are used to move gas through pipelines, liquefy it in processing plants, or reinject it into reservoirs. The compression ratio, a key performance parameter, is the ratio of the absolute discharge pressure to the absolute suction pressure.
