Equipotential method
Term · Oil and gas · MLC-T-OAG-001317
An electrical surveying technique used to map the shape of conductive subsurface bodies. The method involves passing a direct or low-frequency alternating current between two electrodes placed in the ground and then using a voltmeter to trace lines of equal electrical potential on the surface. These equipotential lines are distorted from their normal pattern in the presence of a conductive ore body or structure.
