Faye correction
Term · Oil and gas · MLC-T-OAG-001379
A gravity reduction that combines the free-air correction with a terrain correction, adjusting an observed value for the height of the station above the datum and for the pull of nearby hills and valleys, but without removing the attraction of the rock slab beneath the station. The result is the Faye anomaly, which differs from the Bouguer anomaly in not subtracting the Bouguer plate effect.
