Flapper valve

Term · Oil and gas · MLC-T-OAG-001450

A type of check valve that uses a hinged disc, or flapper, to control fluid flow in one direction. In drilling, it is often incorporated into downhole tools like float collars or cement retainers to prevent backflow of cement or drilling fluids. The flapper opens with forward flow and closes against reverse flow, maintaining pressure integrity.
